New York Paid Family Leave Benefit Level Information
Scheduled (PFL) Benefit Increases
The Superintendent of Financial Services has the discretion to delay the increases in the PFL benefit levels listed below by one or more
years.
Effective Date: January 1, 2018
Benefit %: 50% (of employee's weekly wage)
Maximum Benefit Amount: 50% State Average Weekly Wage / In 2016 - $648 (Average Weekly Wage - $1,296)
Maximum Weeks: 8 weeks within 12 months

Effective Date: January 1, 2019
Benefit %: 55% (of employee's weekly wage)
Maximum Benefit Amount: 55% of the State Average Weekly Wage
Maximum Weeks: 10 weeks within 12 months

Effective Date: January 1, 2020
Benefit %: 60% (of employee's weekly wage)
Maximum Benefit Amount: 60% of the State Average Weekly Wage
Maximum Weeks: 10 weeks within 12 months

Effective Date: January 1, 2021
Benefit %: 67% (of employee's weekly wage)
Maximum Benefit Amount: 67% of the State Average Weekly Wage
Maximum Weeks: 12 weeks within 12 months
The weekly contribution rate for New York Paid Family Leave is 0.126% of the employee's weekly wage (capped at New York State's current
average weekly wage of $1,305.92). Therefore, a maximum contribution of $1.65 per week per employee in 2018, regardless of age, gender, or
other factors.

The maximum contribution will be set by the Superintendent of Financial Services and adjusted annually on September 1.
